Sanjay Dutt refuses to use a body double for heavy-duty action sequences in KGF 2 – Times of India
Sanjay Dutt, who has a number of memorable action films to his credit, is all set to up the ante for his next. The actor will make his debut in Kannada movies with KGF Chapter 2, playing the supervillain Adheera. After training for months for the role, Sanjay gave strict guidelines to the film’s unit that he would be shooting his own sequences sans a body double. A source from the unit informs, “There are elaborate action sequences in the film. The movie’s first part starring Kannada superstar Yash set a certain tone and the brief was to make the sequel grander. When Sanjay said he would shoot sans a body double, the production team had tried to dissuade him, citing safety reasons. But he held his ground because he felt Adheera’s menacing quality will lose touch if he doesn’t do the action scenes himself.” Adhering to his orders, the stunt coordinators would walk the actor through each stunt, keeping a special set of safety protocols in place. The source adds, “The stunts were storyboarded and broken down before being filmed. Apparently, the action sequences have this haunting quality, which was executed skillfully by Sanjay.” For those who have tuned in late, Sanjay Dutt’s first look from the sequel of Yash’s much-anticipated KGF had created quite a stir online when it was dropped on social media on the actor’s birthday in 2020. Apart from KGF: Chapter 2, Sanjay is also awaiting the release of Karan Malhotra’s next with Ranbir Kapoor and a period drama with Akshay Kumar and Sonu Sood.
