Sanjay Dutt and Yash’s ‘KGF 2’ breaks the three day weekend with 141.5 crore sales – Times of India
According to a report by Box Office India, there was a holiday advantage for ‘KGF 2’ with Thursday to Saturday without the Sunday sales yet. Now one can say, the top two weekends are now films from the South.
Both these films made limited collections from the South so the collections are higher in fair value. It does not make good reading when the two top two films are from the South but in today’s time branding makes a huge difference and both KGF2 and ‘Bahubali – The Conclusion’ had this due to their first films being appreciated across the board.
Meanwhile, Thalapathy Vijay’s ‘Beast’ is doing exactly the opposite of ‘KGF 2’. This also implies that a big film with a widely praised predecessor can smash all records, but for the longer run, the film might start to lose screenings even before the weekend is out.
Dutt’s ‘KGF 2’ is the 8th film to have a 100 crore net weekend and now the film chases to make the 150 crore net. The top ten weekends in the history of Hindi films in terms of net collections are as follows.
1. KGF 2 – 1,41,50,00,000
2. Bahubali 2: The Conclusion – 1,27,28,00,000
