Sanjana Sanghi calls Katrina Kaif ‘torchbearer of action films’ in Bollywood as she talks about doing action for the first time in ‘Rashtra Kavach OM’ – Times of India

Sanjana Sanghi, who has been garnering praise for her action sequences in ‘Rashtra Kavach OM’, recently revealed that she looks up to Katrina Kaif when it comes to action in Bollywood.

In an interview with a news portal, Sanjana stated that she might have attempted action for the first time in ‘Rashtra Kavach OM’, however, action is not her favourite genre. The actress revealed that she was forced to watch action movies by her brother and her friends when she was younger. Sanjana added that while the boys would ogle over Scarlett Johansson, Jennifer Lawrence, and Lara Croft, she would wonder if it was even possible. According to her, they all looked stunning and powerful.

When asked who she considered as a role model when it comes to action films in Bollywood, the young diva replied by saying the reference points were very few when she was looking for inspiration for her character as very few have done full-fledged action parts. However, Sanjana heaped praise on Katrina and also called her the ‘torchbearer of action films’ in Bollywood.

Further talking about how the film industry is now churning out better roles and characters for female actors, Sanjana stated that she really owes it to actors like Vidya Balan, Tappsee Pannu, and Deepika Padukone for fighting the tough fights and for taking our writing up to a place where women are now full people and female stars are now bankable.

On the work front, Sanjana will next be seen in Tarun Dudeja’s ‘Dhak Dhak’ which also stars Dia Mirza, Ratna Pathak Shah and Fatima Sana Shaikh in lead roles.
