Samsung has started rolling out a new update for its previous generation of smartwatches — Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic. The latest update brings a couple of new improvements to the watches. The latest update is rolling out for Wi-Fi versions of the watches via Verizon.
The latest update carries the firmware version R865USQU1GVK6 (40mm) and R875USQU1GVK6 (44mm) and it brings performance improvements and enhancements to the watches.
The update is currently rolling out in the US only and we expect the update to arrive in other markets as well. There’s no information available as of now.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series’ latest update is rolling out via Over-the-Air (OTA) update and users will receive a notification for the update. Alternatively, you can also check for the update manually by heading to Settings → Software update on your watch. Or, you can use the Galaxy Wearable app by heading to Watch Settings → Watch software update.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series was launched with WearOS 3 based on the One UI Watch version. The smartwatch comes with a 1.2-inch AMOLED display with 396×396 pixel resolution and Gorilla Glass on the top. The wearable comes with BioActive Sensor, which according to the company is a 3-in-1 sensor that uses a single chip to precisely run three health sensors — Optical Heart Rate, Electrical Heart and Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis.
The smartwatch also comes with support to measure the Body Composition measurement tool gives users a deeper understanding of their general health and fitness, with key measurements like skeletal muscle, basal metabolic rate, body water and body fat percentage.
In terms of hardware, Samsung has equipped the smartwatches with Exynos W920 SoC and paired them with 1.5GB RAM. The wearables also pack 16GB of onboard storage.
