Samsung launched its latest smartwatch lineup — the Galaxy Watch 5 series — in August which includes two devices — the Galaxy Watch 5 and the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. Now, a report claims that a recent update rolled out for the previous smartwatch lineup (Galaxy Watch 4 series) is affecting multiple users around the world. According to a report by Sammobile, a recent firmware update (R8xxXXU1GVI3) rolled out by the South Korean tech giant is causing problems for some Galaxy Watch 4 users. Several users have shared their complaints on Samsung’s Community forums and Reddit to describe the issues that they are facing with their smartwatches.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 4: Issues faced by users
Most Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 users reported that after instaling the new firmware update their smartwatches became completely unusable. However, it is important to note that the affected wearables didn’t brick themselves after installing the update.

The affected users specified that when they switched off their smartwatches after updating their (Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 4 Classic) devices, they couldn’t turn them back on. After installing the update, once these wearables went out of power or users turned them off for some other reason, they couldn’t reboot or recover the smartwatches from the inactive state.
As per the report, Samsung may release another firmware update to patch this issue. The report doesn’t confirm if all users are facing this issue after installing the latest update. However, several users around the world have reported the bricking problem.

Users who are facing this issue are advised to contact Samsung’s customer support. It is better not to update your Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 devices with the recent update if you haven’t already done it.
