Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: 2 new foldable phones and all that we know so far – Times of India

Samsung is hosting its next virtual Galaxy Unpacked event on August 11, in which the electronics giant is expected to launch two new foldable smartphones along with TWS earbuds and a smartwatch. A lot of information has been already leaked ahead of the launch event and Samsung will be introducing the Galaxy Z Flip 3, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Buds 2 and Galaxy Watch 4. Usually, during August, Samsung launches a new Galaxy Note smartphone but this year due to the chip shortage there will be no new Galaxy Note smartphone. There’s a possibility that Samsung may have a little surprise in the form of an exclusive Galaxy Watch variant.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phone: What to expect
The upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 3 will flaunt a similar form factor but there are some design changes. Leaked images revealed that the exterior cameras may be vertically aligned on the cover screen and the cover screen will also be slightly bigger. There will be only one camera inside and it is mostly meant for selfies. The display is expected to be similar with a punch hole cut in the centre. Of course, Samsung will power the Galaxy Z Flip 3 with a new chipset along with more memory. There will be support for 5G while the battery specifications are expected to be similar. Rumours have it that Samsung may introduce a range of colour options this time for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 foldable phone.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3: This may be Samsung’s first foldable phone to support S-Pen stylus
The Galaxy Z Flip 3 is primarily meant for style and not much for productivity. This is because even after unfolding the Galaxy Z Flip 3 vertically you will get the same screen estate like any other smartphone with a display of around 6.5-inch. This is where the Galaxy Z Fold 3 comes handy. The Z Fold 3 unfolds horizontally, essentially converting your phone into a nearly 8-inch tablet. Reports claim that Samsung is adding S-Pen stylus support to the Galaxy Z Fold 3. The design and form factor is expected to be similar and the device will come with a total of five cameras– three at the back, one on the main display and one on the cover display. It will be powered by a new chipset and there will be support for 5G. Battery life is expected to be similar to the older Fold device but there may be new colour options. Samsung may most likely bring all S-Pen stylus features of the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra to the upcoming Galaxy Z Fold 3 like it did with the S21 Ultra.
Samsung Galaxy Buds 2 and two new smartwatches
Samsung is expected to launch the new Galaxy Buds 2 along with two new Galaxy Watch 4 smartwatches. As for features, the Galaxy Buds 2 is expected to offer active noise cancellation along with better battery life and there will be more colour options. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 4 and Watch 4 Classic will have subtle design changes and will feature new software.
Samsung has already given a sneak peek into how Google’s WearOS and Samsung’s Tizen are coming together to create a new interface for Galaxy Watch. At the virtual Mobile World Congress event, Samsung showcased how it is working with Google to make the smartwatch interface more intuitive and feature-rich. The OneUI Watch interface is jointly developed by Google and Samsung to bring in deeper integration between the smartwatch and smartphone.
This includes access to Android apps on Galaxy smartwatches along with better data syncing between your Android-powered Galaxy smartphone and smartwatch.
