‘Samrat Prithviraj’ box office collection: Akshay Kumar’s historical drama records a huge drop, earns Rs 1.50 crore on second Friday – Times of India

Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has failed to click with the audience. The historical drama recorded a huge drop of nearly 40 per cent from previous Friday and added Rs 1.50 crore to its total. All through the week ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ has done poor business and day eight day at the box office.

On its second Friday, ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ managed to earn as much as Kartik Aaryan’s ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ made on its fourth Friday. Over the weekend, the business of ‘Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2’ could be higher than that of ‘Samrat Prithviraj’. Going by the current trend, this historical drama is expected to earn a lifetime collection of around Rs 65-70 crore.

‘Samrat Prithiviraj’ narrates the story of Rajput king Prithviraj Chauhan, essayed by Kumar. It marks the Bollywood debut of Miss World 2017 Manushi Chhillar with Sanjay Dutt and Sonu Sood essaying in pivotal parts in the narrative. Speaking about the film, director Chandraprakash Dwivedi had said in a statement, “We have always felt that a film like Samrat Prithviraj will make every Indian proud and I’m hopeful that this strong weekend will propel more and more people to come to the theatres and witness the life of India’s glorious historical hero Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan on the big screen! We tried to create a visual spectacle befitting the heroics of the mighty king and I’m happy with how the start of the film has been at the box office.”
