Sameer Wankhede likely to be questioned by senior NCB officers on Wednesday: Report – Times of India

Amid allegations of an extortion attempt by Sameer Wankhede and others in connection with the cruise drugs case in which actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan is arrested, the central agency is likely to question the Zonal director on Wednesday.

According to India Today report, Wankhede will be questioned by senior NCB officers on Wednesday. This investigation came after the charges of alleged extortion were levelled against him by a witness in the Mumbai cruise drugs case. On Monday evening, Sameer flew to Delhi. He clarified that this visit is for a different purpose and he was not summoned.

On Monday, the federal anti-drug agency and Wankhede filed affidavits before the special court, designated to hear cases related to the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, against the allegations of extortion attempts levelled against them. As per reports, two affidavits have been filed in the case, one by the NCB and one by Wankhede.

As per the NCB and the zonal director, the allegations made by the independent witness, Prabhakar Sail were only an attempt to create hurdles and scuttle the investigation into the case.

The central agency earlier issued an official statement where Zonal director Sameer Wankhede had denied such allegations by the witness. The closing statement read, “Our zonal director, Mumbai Zonal Unit, Mr. Sameer Wankhede has categorically denied these allegations. As some of the contents of the affidavit related to vigilance matters, I am hereby forwarding the affidavit to the Director-General Narcotics Control Bureau and requesting him for further necessary actions”.

Aryan Khan and other accused have been arrested so far in the case. Aryan is presently lodged at the Arthur Road prison.
