Sam Kerr’s sizzling snap with new girlfriend sets tongues wagging

Australian football superstar Sam Kerr and her new girlfriend have sent social media into meltdown with a sizzling poolside snap.

US footballer Kristie Mewis posted an image to Instagram of the powerhouse couple sharing a passionate kiss while floating on an inflatable pool toy.

The photo was captioned “kerrching” and quickly accumulated over 65,000 likes and 1110 comments within hours of being posted.

Former American footballer Stephanie McCaffrey and current-day star Megan Rapinoe were among those to comment on the photo and give it their tick of approval.

After weeks of speculation, Kerr confirmed she was dating Mewis by uploading a photo of the pair to Instagram earlier this month.

Mewis also went public with their relationship, sharing a selfie of the couple pressing their heads together to the social media platform.

Speculation the pair was dating went into overdrive when they were seen cuddling on the pitch following the bronze medal match at the Tokyo Olympics, which the United States won 4-3 against Australia.

Kerr represents Chelsea in the Women’s Super League in England while Mewis plays for the Houston Dash in America’s National Women’s Soccer League.

Kerr separated from long-term partner Nikki Stanton ahead of the Tokyo Games after more than seven years together.

The 27-year-old reportedly told friends she had “fallen out of love” with Stanton, whom she met back in 2014.

Kerr became the Matildas’ leading goalscorer during the bronze medal match in Japan, with her 48th international goal putting her ahead of Lisa De Vanna on the all-time list.

She scored a total of six goals across six matches in Tokyo.
