Salesforce announces $2-million local grant for India

Customer relationship management (CRM) firm Salesforce announced on Wednesday a local grant of $2 million for 22 non-profit organisations in India

The grant would include entities working towards child welfare, workforce development, and providing quality education for all.

“These grants are expected to impact over 40,000 individuals in India,” said Arundhati Bhattacharya, chief executive officer (CEO) and chairperson of Salesforce India.

“At Salesforce, we believe in businesses to be a platform for change. In India, as we seek to build a more just and equitable society, we understand this vision isn’t ours alone,” Bhattacharya said.

“We continue to work with employees, schools, non-profits, and community leaders in providing equal access to quality education for all.”

Further, as part of
onetrillion.org, another Salesforce initiative, the CRM firm would plant 43.5 million trees globally and one million trees in India by 2030. Salesforce will focus on quality education and environmental conservation in its philanthropic activities.

Speaking at ‘Salesforce Live: India,’ Bhattacharya said the trust was the most important currency in today’s business landscape. “Businesses must ensure they practice what they preach when it comes to ethical and sustainable practices. Retaining trust is just as important as building it.”

Globally, Salesforce has reached over half a billion dollars in all-time philanthropic giving — a total of $532 million in grants since its founding. Salesforce also surpassed $100 million in annual donations for 2022 — a first for the company.
