Sachin Tendulkar credits Ajay Jadeja for Afghanistan’s historic win against Pakistan in World Cup 2023

Afghanistan has scripted history after securing their ‘first-ever’ win against Pakistan in ODIs on Monday. After defeating the defending champions England, this records Afghanistan’s second upset win in World Cup 23.

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar takes on X to praise Afghanistan’s performance, and also credits Afghanistan mentor and his former team player, Ajay Jadeja for the team’s historic victory.

He wrote, “Afghanistan’s performance at this World Cup has been nothing short of outstanding. Their discipline with the bat, the temperament they’ve shown, and aggressive running between the wickets reflects their hard work. It could possibly be due to a certain Mr. Ajay Jadeja’s influence. 

With a formidable bowling lineup, their victories over teams like England and Pakistan indicate the emergence of a new Afghanistan team. 

The cricket world is taking note.  Well done!.”

Chasing the target of 283, The Afghan batters delivered stellar performances with half centuries of Rahmanullah Gurbaz (65) and Ibrahim Zadran (87). After the fall of first wicket, Rahmat Shah comes in with scoring another half century (77*), followed by Captain Hashmatullah Shahidi knock of 48* runs after the fall of second wicket. Their duo led the team to an eight-wicket victory with six balls remaining, and left Pakistan with their third consecutive loss in the marquee tournament.
