SA wheelchair quad champ Ramphadi advances to French Riviera Open semifinals
World No.4 Ramphadi secured a spot in the semifinals after taking down World No.1 Britain’s Lapthorne in a three-set match 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.

JOHANNESBURG – South African wheelchair quad champion Donald Ramphadi defeated his Roland Garros doubles partner, Andy Lapthorne, at Thursday’s French Riviera Open.
World No.4 Ramphadi secured a spot in the semifinals after taking down the World No.1, Britain’s Lapthorne, in a three-set match 5-7, 6-0, 6-2.
This is the first time that Ramphadi has beaten British player Lapthorne and now SA’s quad tennis ace will face world No.12, Israel’s Guy Sasson next.

On Saturday, Limpopo’s Ramphadi and his doubles partner Lapthorne defeated Heath Davidson and Robert Shaw to claim the Quad Wheelchair Doubles title 1-6, 6-2, 10-3.
Ramphadi who is South Africa’s leading wheelchair tennis quad player won the wheelchair quad singles title at the Belgian Open in 2022 – the same year he made his Wimbledon debut.
The 30-year-old was also part of South Africa’s quad wheelchair tennis team that won a silver medal at the 2022 BNP Paribas World Team Cup.
