‘Runway 34’ box office collection day 1: Ajay Devgn starrer scores low with just Rs 3 crore – Times of India

‘Runway 34’ has scored a very low opening day figure. Directed by Ajay Devgn, this film narrated a thrilling drama but it has failed to strike a chord with the audience. On its first day, ‘Runway 34’ earned Rs 3 crore, reports Boxofficeindia. This film has recorded the lowest opening day number for Ajay Devgn since his 2010 release ‘Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge’.

The film stars Ajay Devgn, Rakul Preet Singh and Amitabh Bachchan in lead roles. It clashed with Tiger Shroff starrer ‘Heropanti 2’ at the box office on Friday. Tiger’s actioner managed to earn Rs 6.50 crore on its first day. Despite this low number, ‘Runway 34’ is expected to grow over the weekend as the film is made for multiplex audience. The film may record a growth of 50 per cent on Saturday and continue with the upward trend on Sunday too. The film will also get the benefit of Eid holiday next week, hence it remains to be seen how the fate of ‘Runway 34’ shapes up in the coming days.

Passionately speaking about the project, Ajay had told ETimes in an interview, “So, ‘Runway’ which was initially titled as ‘MayDay’ came to me two and a half years back. I liked the story, but I told the writers to make some changes, and come back. I couldn’t wrap my head around it, because I was working on something else back then. And then, I totally forgot about it. With the pandemic and lockdown, I suddenly remembered about the story and called them up, if they had made the changes. They said that it wasn’t ready. I called them over, after the changes were made, we started working on this. For two, three months, we worked on the script, it became so interesting and nice that I decided I was gonna direct it.”
