Royal Challengers Bangalore start their IPL 2023 on a winning note as they thrashed Mumbai Indians on Sunday. In the match played at the Chinnaswamy stadium, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis guided their team to an easy win by 8 wickets. Coming to bat first, Mumbai set a target of 172 runs powered by Tilak Verma. On the other hand, RCB chased the total in just 16.2 overs.

Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis shared a 148-run partnership for the first wicket which was the fourth-highest partnership against Mumbai Indians. Captain du Plessis was dismissed after scoring 73 runs in 43 balls, which included 5 fours and 6 sixes. On the other, Virat remained unbeaten at 82 runs of 49 balls. In the end, Glenn Maxwell scored 12 runs. Cameron Green and Arshad Khan took 1 wicket each for Mumbai Indians.

Batting first, Mumbai Indians gave a target of 172 runs to the RCB team. Tilak Verma powered the team to a decent total by scoring 84 runs. Apart from him, none of the other batters of Mumbai Indians could play a big innings. Tilak stayed at the crease from start to finish and did not get out. Apart from him, Nehal Vadera and Suryakumar Yadav scored 15 runs each. While Ishan Kishan scored 10 runs, Captain Rohit Sharma got dismissed by scoring just 1 run.

Karn Sharma got the maximum 2 wickets from RCB. Apart from them Mohammad Siraj, Rips Topley, Akashdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, and Michael Bracewell got 1 wicket each. With the loss, Mumbai Indians have continued an unfortunate streak of losing their first match of the tournament in 11 years.
