Royal Challengers Bangalore fail to break losing streak, suffer embarrassing loss to UP Warriorz
Royal Challengers Bangalore suffered an embarrassing loss in the 8th match of the Women’s Premier League on Friday. In the one-sided match played at the Brabourne stadium, UP Warriorz thrashed RCB by 10 wickets. With the loss, RCB have failed to break their losing streak in the tournament.
Skipper Alyssa Healy played an impressive 47-ball 96 and hammered Royal Challengers Bangalore bowlers. During her unbeaten knock, Healy smashed 18 fours and a six as RCB suffered their fourth straight defeat to dent their prospects of advancing further.
UP Warriorz spinners Sophie Ecclestone and Deepti Sharma gave away very little while striking at regular intervals to bundle out RCB for just 138 in 19.3 overs. Ellyse Perry top-scored for RCB with a 39-ball 52. Ecclestone finished with incredible figures of 4/13 in her full quota of four overs, while Deepti ended with 3/26.
UPW chased the target with 42 balls remaining. Chasing a modest target of 139, UP Warriorz started on a high note with the opening duo of Healy and Devika Vaidya hitting boundaries. Healy was particularly severe on off-spinner Shreyanka Patil, who conceded 24 runs in her first two overs.
RCB will face Delhi Capitals in their next match on March 13. On the other hand, UPW will lock horns with Mumbai Indians on March 12.
