‘He needs to do A LOT more to match the top midfielders’: Roy Keane shocks Ian Wright with SCATHING Declan Rice appraisal, saying the West Ham captain has been ‘going through the motions’ and doesn’t score or assist enough

Roy Keane has issued a scathing review of Declan Rice’s form for West Ham this season, claiming that ‘he needs to do a lot more.’

The ex-Manchester United star was on punditry before Man United’s FA Cup match against West Ham tonight, and offered what Ian Wright called a harsh view of the West Ham Captain.

Keane said: ‘He’s got to focus on doing well for west ham this season. I don’t think he’s been that great this season. He’s not really kicked on… I think he needs to do a lot more.

‘He doesn’t score enough goals and he doesn’t get enough assists. For all the good talk about him for all the PR coming out from West ham on him he doesn’t score enough and doesn’t get enough assists. But for me he needs to do a lot more. Let’s see what he’s like now tonight.

‘I’ve been a fan of him, he turns up every week theres talk of him going for big money and going to one of the big clubs and playing in the champions league he needs to do a lot more. It’s as simple as that.

‘I want to look at him closely tonight and sometimes I see him at games for West Ham and not saying he’s playing badly sometimes he’s just going through the motions, picking the easy option and he needs to do a lot more to match some of the top midfielders in the country.’

In response to his claims, Wright said: ‘I think it’s a bit harsh. I thought he had a pretty good world cup. Yes they’re not playing great. But I think when you look at what he’s doing trying to get forward no real strikers scoring consistently, but he is ready to go to that next level.’

But Keane hit back: ‘But I think its easier to play well in a bad team. To me he doesn’t stand out in a bad team – which is a bit of a worry.’
