On Friday night, a stylish group of tennis stars and fans gathered together atop the roof of Rockefeller Center and Rockefeller Plaza to celebrate the launch of Rothy’s and Evian’s newest collaboration rooted in sustainability—a limited-edition, tennis-inspired capsule collection made with repurposed Evian water bottles. The collection, which includes slip-on sneakers, duffel bags, and hats, came about in the aftermath of last year’s U.S. Open, when over 70,000 plastic Evian bottles were collected from the event. To kick off the U.S. Open 2022, beginning on Monday, the both brands’ hope is that this year, sustainability is top of mind for all.
In partnership with cult magazine and lifestyle brand, Racquet, the colorful centerpiece of the event was a custom pink tennis court as part of the week-long ‘Racquet House’ activation, where visitors can hit the courts for a game, set, match, or two. Evian global ambassadors Emma Raducanu and Stan Wawrinka, along with Tommy Haas, took turns hitting balls across the court to get the party started. Guests then relocated to a private rooftop cocktail party to enjoy festive drinks, rounds of burgers and fries, and even vegan ice cream. There was music and dancing courtesy of DJ Brianna Lance. Partygoers even showed up in their own tennis whites and tennis-inspired outfits—think racket-printed dresses, chevron sweaters, pleated tennis skirts, and more.
Other guests of honor included Emily Ratajkowski, Brianna Lance, Ivy Getty, Steve Nash, Ayan Bloomfield, Aleka Ward, Kinsey Seu, Alexandra Richards, Quentin Jones, Lili Buffett, Jessica Joffe, Maayan Zilberman, Susan Alexandra, Zaynab Issa, Dev Hynes, Frederich Kunath, Matt Ebden, Donna Vekic, Kristie Ahn, Jenny Brady, Qiang Wang, Borna Coric.
With a shared mission to keep plastic waste out of nature and in the circular economy, the two brand’s also know how to throw a great party with an even better message behind it. That end-of-summer excitement was surely in the air at the Friday night celebration, where guests toasted to the upcoming U.S. Open 2022 and to a more sustainable future.
