JOHANNESBURG – South Africa’s wheelchair tennis players Kgothatso “KG” Montjane and Donald Ramphadi have secured their spots in the doubles finals at the Roland Garros in their respective categories.
Montjane and her Japanese doubles partner Yui Kamijin dominated the Italian duo, Pauline Deroulede and Emmanuelle Morch, with a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
The top-seeded pair will clash with the unseeded pair of Diede de Groot and Maria Florencia Moreno.

In May, Montjane bagged both the singles and doubles titles at the ITF 2 Series held in Spain.
Earlier in the year, along with her doubles partner Yui Kamiji, they secured the doubles title at the Japan Open tournament, taking down Jiske Griffioen and Momoko Ohtani.

Montjane was the first African wheelchair tennis player to compete at Wimbledon when she was handed a wild card for the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament in London in 2018.
In the quads event, Ramphadi and his partner Andy Lapthorne upset Dutch top seeds Sam Schroder and Niels Vink 4-6, 6-4, 10-6.

Ramphadi and Lapthorne will face second seeds Heath Davidson and Robert Shaw in Saturday’s quads doubles showdown.
South Africa’s leading wheelchair tennis quad player, Ramphadi, won the wheelchair quad singles title at the Belgian Open – ITF 1 series – tennis tournament in Jambes, Belgium, in 2022 – the very year he made his Wimbledon debut.
