Rockstar Games may skip GTA 4 and Red Dead Redemption remaster, claims report – Times of India
Remaking old and classic games has been a recent trend in the video game industry as the remastered version of games like Resident Evil 2 has been quite a success. The rumour mill has lately been throwing around speculations about the remakes of Red Dead Redemption 1 and Grand Theft Auto 4. These are some of the titles that are deemed among the best ones developed by Rockstar Games. According to a recent report by GameRant, a “reliable source with clear accuracy on Rockstar plans” has revealed that the developer is planning to cancel the remasters of these games for the time being. However, the original versions of Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto 4 are available for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The report also mentions that Rockstar has not officially confirmed its plans and these are mere speculations.
Why Rockstar may skip the remasters for now
As per the report, Rockstar might be currently focusing more on the Grand Theft Auto 6 and so has decided to scrap the remake plans, for now, however, the upcoming game has still not received an official launch date. Moreover, the developers are also worried about the disaster caused by the remastered Grand Theft Auto Trilogy that was released in 2021, the report suggests. Rockstar took down fan modes and removed the existing versions of the game before returning them to the Rockstar Store after being criticised by players, the report mentions.
Future of the remastered versions
Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption and GTA 4 might finally get their remake version after GTA 6 starts shipping, the report claims. Apart from these, the report also states that Rockstar is planning to “avoid crunch and similar time-related issues” it encountered during the development cycle of Red Dead Redemption 2. Moreover, Rockstar is also known for taking its time to develop games and without the release date of GTA 6 in the vicinity, it will be a long time before the remodelled becomes a legitimate possibility.
