Riteish Deshmukh: I’m the only actor who’s done 4 to 5 sex comedies and I’m not ashamed – Exclusive – Times of India

When asked about how he’s managed to stay relevant in the film industry, Riteish says, “As an actor the only way to be part of good work and a good project is to associate with writings and stories that are relevant to today’s culture and society. So it’s important that the choices that you make need to be relevant.”

Being in the industry for almost two decades, Riteish says, “I’ve had the liberty to experiment with a great variety of choices and that’s because I started out a long time ago.”

The ‘Dhamaal’ actor was also asked if he alters his creative decisions keeping in mind what his kids will think a few years from now. The actor replies “I’ve done films to satisfy myself as an actor.”

He further adds, “I am the only actor who’s done 4-5 sex comedies and I am not ashamed of that. After a point, there’s nothing more that can be on offer. I never thought what would my son think in the future. When I did that, my father was the chief minister of Maharashtra. I made that choice. My parents never told me what to do, what not to do. They allowed me to make my own choice. When it comes to my kids making a choices for to watch, they don’t really know about my body of work.”

Riteish also reveals that his kids don’t know that he’s a star or a well known personality. “My kids still don’t understand, why paps and fans want to click pictures with me. They are still not aware of the stardom. Fame is only temporary. What you think is fame, might just be an illusion.”

On a closing note, he adds, “My kids go to school and their friends tell them, your father is a star. All I tell my children is, ‘Go and tell your friends that my father goes to work everyday to provide for me and to entertain my family’.”
