Rishi Kapoor’s advice to Ranbir Kapoor on being a parent goes viral after Alia Bhatt announces pregnancy – Times of India

Alia Bhatt pulled off a sweet surprise on all her fans on Monday when she announced that she is pregnant with her first child with husband Ranbir Kapoor. As expected, the internet could not keep calm with the exciting news that came in just weeks after the couple took the plunge on April 14. Since the news broke, fans have been taking to social media to congratulate the parents-to-be and also send their love and best wishes to the Kapoor and Bhatt families.

Among the many posts that went viral, were ones that reminisced words of advice shared by Ranbir’s late father Rishi Kapoor. The Bollywood veteran, who passed away in 2020, made no secret about his desire to be a grandfather. Before his sudden passing, the actor went on record to share his excitement for his son to marry soon and have children.

In an interview with Mid-day in 2018, Rishi said, “It is high time he got married. I settled down when I was 27, and Ranbir is 35. So he should think about marriage. He can marry anyone of his choice; we don’t have any objection to it. I want to spend time with my grandchildren before I am gone.”

Another old video doing the rounds online saw Rishi eager to be a grandfather. Sharing some words of advice for his son on marriage and starting a family, he said, “You have to live your life and you have to live your life with that person, your soulmate. You have to be very careful because that person is going to be the mother of your children. The child’s great grandfather will be Raj Kapoor and my grandson.”

While Rishi was out living the life of a movie star, he made sure to spend as much time as possible with his two children. Stressing on the importance of making time for the family, Rishi, in a chat show with Anupam Kher, revealed the reason why he never worked on Sunday.

“I’ve seen this happen with most people in the film line. This is why I decided that I will never shoot on Sunday. That’s when my kids would be off, and I needed a break as well. So, I never shot on Sundays and took one month off every year, when I’d take the family on a vacation,” he said.

Expressing his hope for Ranbir to do the same with his kids and build a stronger relationship with them, he said, “I knew what I missed out with my father, so I tried to give that to Ranbir. I’m sure Ranbir will bring something that he missed out on (with his kids).”
