The celeb couple, who welcomed their first child this past summer, enjoyed a quick date night at West Hollywood’s Issima on Thursday. It was a leather-heavy affair. Rihanna wore tight leather pants with a flared leg and a sharp-collared jacket to match. While A$AP Rocky provided a more casual spin on the moto trend by pairing a studded leather jacket with crisp, loose jeans and leather boots. Each outfit captures the respectives essences of Rihanna and A$AP.
One can not help but wonder if the style moguls cast an eye backwards for this powerful his-and-hers moment. Victoria and David Beckham have become enshrined in fashion history for wearing head-to-toe Tom Ford-era Gucci leather ensembles on a ’90s red carpet. (Recently, during an appearance on Watch Watch Happens Live, Victoria said of the endearingly iconic, and viral, look, “We really thought about it and there was a naïveté to it that was just so sweet.”) Rihanna has been a noted fan of all-things early 2000s as of late—rocking knockout vintage bags from the era. It would make sense for her to provide a more modern spin on such a memorable fashion moment that time.
Either way, it’s great to see Rihanna and A$AP Rocky combine their fashion powers and serve knockout looks. Two serves are always better than one.
