Richard Avedon at Palazzo Reale: Milan Kicked off Fashion Week With an Exhibition Dedicated to the Photographer
Milan Fashion Week SS23 kicked off on September 20 with the opening of a splendid exhibition featuring Richard Avedon’s work which is dedicated mostly to fashion (but not only).
Said the American artist. It is no coincidence then that “Richard Avedon: Relationships,” produced and organized by Palazzo Reale and Skira, and curated by Rebecca A. Senf, is the title of the exhibition that recounts bonds between people and investigates the relationship between Gianni and Donatella Versace in particular. Yesterday evening, the designer accompanied guests through the exhibition organized by Skira, Versace, and Vogue as a media partner.
“We are at Palazzo Reale, a beautiful place to inaugurate a fashion week that promises to be full of energy,” said Mayor Giuseppe Sala. “Fashion, design, and tourism remain the driving forces of this city, which despite a complex year, is doing very well,” said Mayor Giuseppe Sala. This year in July and August, we had an even higher record of tourists in the city than in 2019, and shopping is certainly one of the driving forces. The international attractiveness of the city is now undeniable.”
Fashion and photography enthusiasts, art lovers, insiders, and designers enjoyed viewing the 100-plus photographs by the American artist during an exclusive event, curated by the Versace maison, which ended in the beautiful Sala delle Cariatidi.
Here are the most beautiful images of the evening. And it just so happens that a display of Vogue’s covers is the most Instagrammable corner of the exhibition.
