In a column Monday night, Rosenthal provided the 10 teams that Lynn has the ability to block any trade to.
The Seattle Mariners, San Diego Padres, San Francisco Giants, Los Angeles Dodgers, Los Angeles Angels, St. Louis Cardinals, New York Mets, New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays all joined the Blue Jays on the 36-year-old’s list.
However, Rosenthal said that Lynn “would waive his protection for certain contenders.” He added that the two-time all-star could use the no-trade clause as leverage in a deal and require any of the teams listed above to exercise his $18.5 million option for 2024.
Lynn hasn’t had the strongest of seasons, posting a 6.18 ERA over 115.0 innings. He has struck out 10.88 hitters per nine and had a 16-strikeout start against the Mariners on June 18.
A 12-year MLB veteran, Lynn has pitched with five different teams. He has thrown 1820.1 career innings with a 3.69 ERA. He also has plenty of post-season experience, making 27 playoff appearances and reaching two World Series as a member of the Cardinals.
