The Wizards and Beal reportedly agreed to work on trade scenarios if the team decides to deal the three-time all-star.
Beal has a no-trade clause on a five-year, $251-million deal, which has four years left. The Wizards could look to deal Beal if they decide to rebuild.
Beal has played his entire 11-year career with the Wizards.
The guard averaged 23.2 points on a career-best 50.6 per-cent shooting from the field last season as the Wizards missed the playoffs for the fourth time in five years. He played only 50 games as Beal battled a few injuries.
Beal averaged more than 30 points in back-to-back seasons from 2019-21.
The Heat are coming off a run to the NBA Finals, having lost in five games to the Denver Nuggets. If the Heat do attempt to acquire Beal, former Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry could be traded to make room for Beal’s salary.
The Phoenix Suns were eliminated by Denver in Round 1, leading to head coach Monty Williams’ firing and the waiving of Chris Paul. Frank Vogel was hired as Williams’ replacement.
