Third-baseman Justin Turner has reportedly agreed to a two-year deal to join the Boston Red Sox according to ESPN’s Joon Lee and Jeff Passan.

Though the full details of the 38-year-old’s new contract haven’t been fully released yet, Passan writes that it’s a two-year deal worth just shy of $22 million, and has an opt-out built into it that could take effect after his first season.

The two-time All-Star played his last nine seasons with the Dodgers, winning the World Series with them in 2020. Last year he recorded a slash line of .270/.350/.438 with 13 home runs and 81 RBIs.

Throughout his 14-year career, he has spent the majority of his time playing the hot corner, however, with superstar Rafael Devers manning the position for the Sox, Turner is likely to split time between first base and designated hitter.

Boston has had a productive offseason so far after finishing last in the AL East with a 78-84 record last season. Alongside Turner, they’ve signed closer Kenley Jansen and set-up man Chris Martin to shore up their bullpen, and Japanese outfield phenom Masataka Yoshida to improve their bats.
