Reliance Jio introduces True 5G WiFi service in India – Times of India
Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio, has announced the launch of its true 5G-powered public WiFi services in India. Jio’s True 5G-WiFi services would be put in high-footfall areas, including educational institutes, religious places, railway stations, bus stands, commercial hubs, and more. The WiFi service has been installed in the town of Nathdwara, in Rajasthan.
Reliance Jio users in Nathdwara can use the True 5G-powered WiFi services for free during the period of the Jio Welcome Offer. Meanwhile, non-Jio customers would be able to try the service, and they can switch to Jio for unlimited experience with the 5G WiFi in the town.
“Service to humanity is one of the most endearing facets of Indian culture, the roots of which can be found in our socio-religious traditions. As stated earlier, 5G cannot remain an exclusive service to the privileged few or those in our largest cities. It must be available to every citizen, every home, and every business across India. This is a step in that direction to enable every Indian with JioTrue5G. Today, we have powered the first True5G-enabled Wi-Fi service at the holy town of Nathdwara and the temple of Lord Srinath Ji. With this, we will power many more such locations and allow them to trial our services,” said Mr. Akash M Ambani, Chairman, Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited.
Further, Reliance Jio has expanded the coverage of the True 5G network in Chennai a few weeks after introducing the service in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Varanasi. Though, users would need the invitation to experience the 5G network speeds in Chennai, similar to how it works in other cities.
