The Baltimore Ravens’ push for a spot in the postseason will continue without Lamar Jackson in Week 17. The fourth-year quarterback is out of action for a third straight game due to an ankle injury suffered earlier in December.
Jackson, 24, was questionable to play against the Los Angeles Rams, but it appeared unlikely after he sat out of practice Thursday and Friday. He participated in practice on a limited basis Wednesday, but struggled to move without limping.
While Baltimore will be without its former MVP, the good news is that the team will have quarterback Tyler Huntley back in the starting lineup after he missed Week 16 due to a positive COVID-19 test. With both Jackson and Huntley out of action last week, the Ravens were forced to turn to Josh Johnson at quarterback, although it was the team’s struggles on defense that proved the difference in a loss to the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Ravens have lost four straight and are now on the outside of the AFC playoff picture with two games left. A loss to the Rams on Sunday would drop Baltimore to 8-8 on the year and severely damage the team’s rapidly dwindling playoff hopes.
Huntley will start his third game of the season Sunday. He has three touchdowns and one interception on the year with a 1-1 record as a starter.
