Ravens officially sign former first-round WR
The Ravens have already given QB Lamar Jackson three new wide receivers this offseason, but they are not done giving him weapons for 2023 quite yet.
Baltimore announced on Tuesday morning that the team is signing WR Laquon Treadwell, a first-round pick by the Vikings in the 2016 NFL Draft, to a one-year deal.
Treadwell has yet to find his footing in the league but is certainly hoping that he can with the Ravens, who will be his seventh team since entering the NFL.
The soon-to-be 28-year-old has 110 catches for 1,226 yards and five touchdowns in his seven-year career.
In 2022, Treadwell had just six catches for 42 yards in six games with the Seahawks and spent time on the Cardinals’ and Patriots’ practice squads.
It will be no easy task for Treadwell to make Baltimore’s 53-man roster as he joins a crowded room that already includes wide receivers Odell Beckham Jr., Rashod Bateman, Zay Flowers and Nelson Agholor.
However, if the Ravens still believe in Treadwell’s upside, he may be able to find a way onto the team. Plus, Jackson is likely the best quarterback he has played with in the NFL.
It’s a very low-risk, high-reward signing for Baltimore as the team is giving itself no more excuses to make a run for a Super Bowl in 2023.
