Ratna Pathak Shah feels glad that ‘saddi hui formula wali filmein’ aren’t working anymore: Shukr hai – Times of India

Veteran actress Ratna Pathak Shah is known for speaking her mind. She never minces her words when it comes to talking about burning topics. In her new interview, she shared her thoughts about the shuffle in showbiz and said that she is glad that formula films aren’t working anymore in the industry.
She said that it is a good time for all the actors irrespective of their age and gender. She also expressed her displeasure over the idea of certain actors getting the spotlight, which eventually shifts the focus on the actor rather than the story. She does not find this particular idea very interesting.

She further added that nowadays it has become easier for women of her age to get work in the industry. She also said that when stories are being written for actors, it gets limited by the personality of that actor and it won’t give her a chance to challenge herself as an actor.
“Suddenly, the world is becoming interested in how you live your life. I love that shuffling. Will we continue that way? We will see. God knows. I have hope too. But we have moved ahead in that direction and there is no going back. Ab dobara woh saddi hui formula wali filmein nahi suna payenge. Shukr hai (No more will the formula films work. Thank God),” she told India Today.

Last year, Ratna had found herself at the receiving end of criticism when she had called SS Rajamouli’s highly appreciated blockbuster RRR a regressive film.

“Films like RRR are so popular today. But it’s a regressive film. It looks backward while we should look forward. We just feel whatever we are doing is good because we are part of the mother of democracy – India. Until filmmakers will not see their work critically, we will have to watch films like RRR. But we don’t like criticism. Our ego gets hurt, This atmosphere is created by so many big people and unfortunately, we have accepted it,” she had said at an event.

On the work front, Ratna will be seen in the comedy series Happy Family. It stars an ensemble cast which also includes Raj Babbar, Atul Kulkarni, Ayesha Julka, Raunaq Kamdar, Meenal Sahu, Sanah Kapur, and Ahaan Saboo in pivotal roles.
