‘Rashtra Kavach Om’ collects around Rs 1.4 crore; ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ rakes in Rs 65 lakh on Day 1 at the box office – Times of India
The mass pockets did fair business, the report further stated. The action factor seems to have worked in the favour of the film in pockets like UP and Bihar. While the film collected around 9 lakh nett in Bihar, UP contributed over 20 lakh nett taking the the Delhi/UP total to around 35 lakh. The collections are still better than Kangana Ranaut’s Dhaakad which was in the same genre made on a higher budget.
Speaking to ETimes earlier about too much of the story already shown in the trailer of ‘Om’, Aditya Roy Kapur had said, “The film has a lot more than what’s apparent in the trailer. There was a lot of debate about it before the trailer came out whether we should show it or not. But I think people are really going to be in for a surprise when they go into the theatres. They will realise that there’s actually a lot more to the story than what they were making out from the trailer. I can understand where the audiences are coming from. It seems like, ‘Okay this person is going to save that guy, it’s fairly simple’. But it’s actually not. There’s a lot of twists and turns to the screenplay that you won’t see coming. I think there’s a reason for our team to be optimistic because I feel like we’ll over deliver on our story in theatres.”
On the other hand, R Madhavan’s bilingual film ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’ collected around Rs 65 lakh nett on Day 1. The opening is better than bigger Tamil films like ‘Valimai’, ‘Beast’ and ‘Vikram’ but those were dubbed in Hindi.
