With help from the Cleveland Cavaliers losing to the Orlando Magic, the Raptors avoided the play-in tournament by finishing above the Cavs, who will now partake in the play-in that starts on Apr. 12.
Joining the Raptors, the Chicago Bulls also clinched a playoff spot as a result of the Cavaliers loss to the Magic.
Chicago, Toronto and Cleveland finished 11th, 12th and 13th in the conference last season and all did not advance to the postseason.
The Bulls have not made the postseason since 2017, and the Cavaliers have not made the postseason since 2018 when they fell 4-0 to the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals.
Toronto last played in the playoffs during the 2020 NBA bubble playoff format where they fell to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the conference semifinals.
