Ranjeet recalls how his on-screen rapist image impacted his personal life: Kapil Dev’s sister-in-law got uncomfortable after giving a side hug – Times of India

Veteran actor Ranjeet is one of the most popular villains of all time in the Hindi film industry. Though he received immense love and appreciation for his negative characters from the audience, his on-screen rapist image deeply impacted his personal life.
He recently recalled an incident when Kapil Dev’s sister-in-law got uncomfortable after he gave her a side hug. The legendary cricketer had to reassure her that Ranjeet was not the kind of person which you see in movies.

“I have left a mark on them. Kapil Dev’s sister-in-law had come for some medical treatment. So, I have a habit of shaking hands and giving a side hug. So, she got a little uncomfortable. Kapil Dev then said to her, “Ye vaisa nahi hai jaisa tu samajhti hai,” Ranjeet told Lehren.

He further went on to narrate an incident when he used to visit Delhi to be with his daughter Gigi who was doing a fashion internship with designer Manish Arora. He used to visit her every weekend because he was scared to leave her alone. They used to walk in arm in arm and people used to judge him saying that despite becoming so old, he was still roaming with young women.

“She (Gigi) would take me out for dinner every night. So, most of the times, what happened, I used to walk in with her arm in arm. With high heels, she looks taller than me. So, people used to give me dirty looks, saying, “Buddha ho gaya hai, abi tak jawan ladkiyon ko leke ghoomta hai. Sharam nahi aati. But people loved me also. I got so much love and affection,” he said.
