Rangers star Calvin Bassey completes £19m move to Ajax in record sale for Scottish giants… with defender signing five-year deal with Eredivisie champions after they sold Lisandro Martinez to Manchester United
Calvin Bassey has sealed his £19million move from Rangers to Ajax in what is a record sale for the Scottish giants.
The Eredivisie champions have been looking for a replacement for Lisandro Martinez, who joined Manchester United in a £55m deal earlier this week.
And the Dutch outfit have now sealed a deal for left-back Bassey, who has signed a five-year deal at the Johan Cruyff Arena.

While the initial fee for Bassey amounts to £19m, £4.25m in potential add-ons have also been included in the deal.
Bassey enjoyed a breakthrough season in Glasgow last campaign, notching 50 appearances in all competitions as Rangers made it to the Europa League final.
The defender’s crowning moment last season came in the Scottish Cup final, his man-of-the-match display helping the Gers beat Hearts 2-0 in extra-time.
Brighton were also keen to land the Ibrox star, with Albion left-back Marc Cucurella being a long-time summer transfer target for champions Manchester City.
Former Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has also monitored Bassey closely at Aston Villa, although now the defender looks to be on his way to Holland.
The Scottish giants picked up Bassey on the cheap from Leicester City in 2020, parting with a mere £230,000 to land his signature.
