Rangers goal hero Kemar Roofe savours revenge win over Hibernian
KEMAR ROOFE admits Rangers had a point to prove at Easter Road as they took another step towards the Premiership title with victory over Hibernian.
The champions moved seven points clear of Celtic at the top of the table as Roofe netted a late penalty to earn a narrow 1-0 win on Wednesday night.
It was a third triumph on the spin for Giovanni van Bronckhorst as his side have bounced back from their Hampden horror show ten days ago.
Rangers now prepare for the visit of Dundee this weekend as they attempt to build some title momentum through a crucial run of December fixtures.
And Roofe was pleased to be able to play his part on a night where the Light Blues showed their title mettle and ground out what could prove to be a crucial three points.
Roofe said: “It was a tough one. We knew it was going to be a tough one away from home and with the atmosphere here. It was always going to be a difficult game.
“Of course [we had a point to prove after Hampden]. That is what football is about.
“They did us in the semi-final and it hurt us a lot. So it was important for us to get the three points today.
“But all games are crucial. They are a good side. It was an away game at a difficult place to come and we had to grind it out.
“Of course [I wanted to come on and make an impact]. That is the job if you are coming on as a sub.
“You have to make an impact and help the team get over the finishing line. The guys that came on, I think we did that.
“I am ready. I just enjoy football now. I just want to win games and score goals.”
