Rangers draw Borussia Dortmund in Europa League play-off round
RANGERS have discovered their first knockout round opponents in the Europa League.
The Ibrox side will play Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League play-off in February, in what is somewhat of a glamour tie for the Glasgow side
The draw for the first knockout stage of UEFA’s secondary competition was made at noon today.
And Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side now know they will play Dortmund.
They entered into the play-off knockout round after finishing second in Group A, behind Lyon in top.
This set-up a whole host of potential tough ties against the Champions League group stage drop-outs.
They could have faced any of Barcelona, Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Porto, Sevilla, Sheriff, Zenit or Atalanta – who were all unseeded.
The ties will take place over two legs, with the seeded teams at home in the second leg.
So Rangers will travel to Dortmund on Thursday, February 17.
They will then host them in the return tie on Thursday, February 24.
The eight winners of the ties in this play-off round will meet the eight Europa League group winners in the round of 16.
These are Crevena zvezda, Eintracht Frankfurt, Galatasaray, Bayer Leverkusen, Lyon, Moncao, Spartak Moscow and West Ham.
More to follow.
