Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt’s Brahmastra has been in the making for more than five years and it was the film on which, the two became close and started their relationship. At a recent event to unviel a sneak peak of the film’s new song Deva Deva, the film’s director Ayan Mukerji revealed how the trio are best friends and do everything together including taking holidays, watching movies and hanging out. Despite their friendship, Ranbir and Alia had to hide their relationship status from Ayan for some time.

While speaking to the media, Ranbir revealed, “Alia, Ayan and I have spent so much time making Brahmastra that so much has changed in our lives over the years. In these years, whenever we met, Ayan would always be obsessing over Brahmastra. After every conversation, Ayan would always be directing our attention towards Brahmastra. At one point, when Alia and I had started dating, we couldn’t even tell Ayan that we’d started seeing each other, fearing that he would freak out.” Ayan added to Ranbir’s revelation and said, “I had a very mature reaction when Ranbir broke the news to me. I had to be at my best behaviour with my close friends.”

Alia also revealed, “Ayan and I were already quite close before Ranbir and I started dating.” To this, Ayan added, “Alia and I hit it off the first time we met. We were always on the same wavelength and we were really close even before she and Ranbir started getting close.”

Brahmastra’s second song Deva Deva is slated to release on Monday, August 8. At the event, Ayan told the media that this was his favourite song from the entire album and the song also features more of the chemistry between Ranbir-Alia that has worked wonders for the film’s first song Kesariya, too.
