Rams Pro Bowl CB Jalen Ramsey responds to trade rumors
Amid reports that a trade from the Los Angeles Rams appears imminent, Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey responded to the rumors.
Taking to social media on Friday night, Ramsey addressed the trade talk.
Ramsey’s reaction probably stems from a report from NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero stating that the Rams have not only discussed a trade of Ramsey with teams, but that a deal is “likely” to occur within the coming weeks.
The 28-year-old, coming off a sixth consecutive Pro Bowl, is still playing at a high level. Ramsey finished the 2022 season with career-highs in tackles (88), pass defenses (18) and sacks (2) while matching his bests in interceptions (4) and forced fumbles (2).
Regardless of Ramsey’s production, the writing appears to be on the wall regarding his future in Los Angeles. After a miserable 5-12 finish to the 2022 season, the Rams will likely spend most of the offseason cutting salaries, with Ramsey’s at the top of the list.
Ramsey is due $17 million in 2023 and has three years remaining on a five-year, $100 million contract, which will pay him $14.5 million in 2024 and $15.5 million in 2025, per Spotrac.
If this is the end of the line for Ramsey in L.A., he’ll leave the Rams with a Super Bowl ring, four Pro Bowls and two All-Pro nods over three-plus seasons. Since being acquired in a trade from the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2019, Ramsey has played in 57 games, recording 209 tackles and 10 interceptions.
