‘Ram Setu’ makers confirm the Akshay Kumar-starrer will release in theatres – Times of India

Ram Setu’ is one of the most anticipated films of the year. Back in April, the makers had revealed that the film will release in theatres on Diwali this year and it made fans all too excited. However, over the past few days speculation was rife that ‘Ram Setu’ may skip the theatrical release in favour of an OTT release. Some reports claimed that Akshay Kumar’s last two films ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ and ‘Bachchhan Paandey’s poor box office numbers might be the reason behind this.

However, now the producer of the film has dismissed all these rumours and reports confirming its theatrical release as announced before. ‘Ram Setu’ is set to hit the big screens on October 24. Directed by
Abhishek Sharma, ‘Ram Setu’ will see Akshay play the role of an archaeologist.

Earlier the makers had revealed that the adventure flick will release on OTT only after it completes the theatrical run. Since the film has been jointly produced by an OTT giant many speculated that the makers are pondering over a digital release, especially after Akshay’s last two films’ not so impressive box office numbers.

Akshay Kumar’s ‘Bachchhan Paandey’, released in March, managed to earn only ₹49 crore in its entire run. Meanwhile, his latest release ‘Samrat Prithviraj’ is now close to the end of its box office run, and has collected ₹66 crore in India till now.

The popular actor currently has his calendar full with a long list of films including, ‘Gorkha’, ‘OMG 2’, ‘Selfie’, ‘Raksha Bandhan’ and ‘Mission Cinderella’ to name a few.
