Rag & Bone Pre-Fall 2024 Menswear Collection
Since Jennie McCormick and Kyle Sweeney’s takeover at Rag & Bone, they’ve brought the brand’s focus closer to home. “We’ve been exploring all angles of New York, and what it means to live in New York, and be a New Yorker,” said McCormick. “This [collection] was intentionally created for the people in the heat of the summer in the city.” As those who live in New York know, at the height of summer the humidity and lack of air conditioning on public transportation is one of the limitations of getting dressed. Taking that into consideration, the designers intentionally chose light fabrics such as featherweight denim, linen, and poplin that will give you a polished look in the sweltering heat.
“I was heavily inspired by this idea of the modern New York jet setter who encompasses [different] aspects of everyday life; and thinking about how that everyday New York gritty spirit comes to life in the hot summer months,” said Sweeney. Having a modular wardrobe was also important for those who would be traveling from the office to out of town locations on summer Fridays, a concept displayed in the lookbook. Poplin dresses are worn open with denim shorts underneath, while some of the terry camp shirts are paired with tank tops for office-appropriate coverage. McCormick envisions these clothes becoming everyday necessities. “We really felt like these clothes can take you to all the places you need to go in the summer.”
