R Madhavan is a proud parent as his son recently made headlines for breaking a national junior record at a swimming competition. His son Vedaant, a talented swimmer proved his mettle at the 48th Junior National Aquatic Championships and won the 1500m freestyle to bag the gold medal.

Sharing the video of his winning streak, Madhavan wrote, “Never say never. (Folded hands, red hearts and hug emojis). National Junior Record for 1500m freestyle broken”. The video featured Vedaant swimming, as the commentator said, “Around 16 minutes, he has broken Advait Page’s record at the 780m mark. I did not expect him to do it but he picked up his pace beautifully.”

Back in April, Vedaant also won the gold medal in the men’s 800m freestyle at the Danish Open in Copenhagen. Sharing a clip of Vedaant winning the medal, Madhavan had shared, “And So TODAY the winning streak continues.. @VedaantMadhavan gets a GOLD at Denmark open. Pradeep Sir @swimmingfedera1 #ANSAdxb & all of you for the continued blessings.”

Meanwhile, on the work front, Madhavan recently starred in ‘Rocketry: The Nambi Effect’. Helmed by Madhavan himself, it’s an Indian biographical drama on the life of scientist Nambi Narayanan. The film also marks Madhavan’s directorial debut and is slated to have a worldwide release on July 1, 2022.
