R Balki dismisses the ‘Bollywood is over’ theory; says ‘films flop, it’s a phase that won’t last for long’ – Times of India

R Balki, who has been a part of showbiz for over 15 years now, recently rubbished the ‘Bollywood is over’ theory. According to the filmmaker, films might not be doing well but it is a phase that won’t last for long.

In an interview with a news portal, Balki said that ‘Bollywood is over’ is a lovely theory to have, few flops flopped, and people love to write, fill columns and feed. According to him, it is entertainment and failures are also entertainment. The filmmaker also added that when success happens, they will have entertainment again and say, ‘The rise and rise of Bollywood’, which will happen very soon.

The director also went on to add that it is just a phase and happens for various reasons. However, according to him, it won’t last for very long. Balki also went on to point out how Ayan Mukerji’s ‘Brahmastra’ has lured the audience back to the theatres. So it will change. This is just another show, the filmmaker told Indian Express.

On the work front, R Balki is all geared up for his upcoming film, ‘Chup’ which stars Sunny Deol, Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary and Pooja Bhatt in lead roles. The film is a psychological thriller that follows a serial killer who carves stars into the bodies of his victims.

It is slated to hit the theatres on September 23, 2022.
