PSG ‘set to rival Man United for their top striker target Rasmus Hojlund’
PSG ‘are set to rival Man United for their top striker target Rasmus Hojlund’ – with the French giants capable of getting closer to £86m asking price
Paris Saint-Germain have joined the race to sign Manchester United target Rasmus Hojlund, according to reports.
Hojlund, 20, is widely seen as one of the most promising young players in Europe and scored 10 goals in 34 appearances for Atalanta last season.
United are said to have made him their No 1 striker target in the summer transfer window and were hoping to do a deal for around £40million.
But Italian side Atalanta’s asking price is almost double, £86m, which the Red Devils may struggle to pay given their pursuit of Inter Milan goalkeeper Andre Onana.
And according to journalist Fabrizio Romano, French giants PSG have made an enquiry about Hojlund as they look to strengthen their forward line.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is said to have made Hojlund his No 1 striker target
But United are also exploring a move for Andre Onana, which could hinder a Hojlund transfer
United have cooled on the prospect of signing Tottenham striker Harry Kane given Tottenham’s prohibitive £120m asking price and owner Daniel Levy’s unwillingness to sell.
Hojlund, who has six goals in six caps for Denmark, would represent a cheaper option – but Erik ten Hag’s side may still not have enough.
Their £120m transfer budget currently stands at just £60m after their £60m deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount.
Ten Hag and Co are close to a deal for Onana, but are unwilling to pay more than £43m despite Inter holding out for £51m.
That would wipe out most of their transfer war chest and though there is room for flexibility, it could well prevent a move for Hojlund.
That would potentially allow PSG who do not have the same financial constraints – a free run at the Dane.
United have been operating without a regular No 9 for too long, which is why they lagged well behind the rest of the top-six in goals scored last season.
The best candidate, Anthony Martial, can’t stay fit and Marcus Rashford prefers to play off the left.
