Priscilla Presley on Our Minds: 29 Looks From the Spring 2024 Collections Fitting for the Queen of Graceland

Wake up, TikTok! Priscilla, Sofia Coppola’s new movie, is out today. For her eighth film, the director takes on the story of Elvis’s other half, Priscilla, played by Cailee Spaeny. It’s based on Elvis and Me, the 1985 biography written by Priscilla with Sandra Harmon, and it takes us on a journey of the woman’s life.

While the highs and lows of the fast-burn romance remain the focal point of the movie, we couldn’t help but notice how Priscilla’s style also changed throughout her relationship. Before her courtship with Elvis, not only was Priscilla’s hair three shades lighter but her outfits were much more school appropriate (she was 14 when she met Elvis), with lots of cardigans and pleated skirts. After her move to Graceland, she underwent a makeover as Elvis began dressing her, and she began wearing a lot more blue and more minidresses. During her long periods away from Elvis, she would entertain herself shopping, buying lots of pink, red, and floral prints—much to Elvis’s dismay. “Blue is your color,” Elvis said, most likely because it was the color of her eyes. Toward the end of the marriage in the 1970s, Priscilla went back to her natural hair color and also began to incorporate more pants into her wardrobe, fitting for the time.

The spring 2024 runways were heavily influenced by the ’60s.  The Priscilla press tour has kicked off, with Spaeny making appearances on late night television wearing some of our selected pieces, including the ribbon set from Giambattista Valli.
