Prince Andrew ‘completely lost, depressed’ as King Charles III bans him from public duties
Just days before the death of Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Andrew was told that he would be permanently banished from public life. Reports suggest that Prince Andrew was fraught and emotional after the meeting as he hoped to resume his royal duties.
Andrew stepped back from royal duties in 2019 amid scrutiny of his relationship with convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein came to light.
The former monarch, Queen Elizabeth II had stripped him of his royal patronages and military ties after American Virginia Giuffre accused the Duke of York of sexual abuse in a civil lawsuit.
The Allegations against Prince Andrew
Virginia Giuffre accused the Duke of York of sexually assaulting her when she was a teenager and Jeffrey Epstein trafficked her. Prince Andrew, however, strenuously denied the allegations and has repeatedly claimed he does not remember ever meeting Virginia Giuffre.
Prince Andrew then reached a settlement with her earlier this year, which runs into millions of pounds to stop the case before it could go to trial. The meeting between King Charles III and Prince Andrew was held in Aberdeenshire at the King’s Birkhall estate, reports state. The Prince was left disappointed as he believed he could still be of value despite his links with the Jeffrey Epstein.
