Prakash Jha: I want to work with all the actors; I am very greedy that way – Times of India
Your short film, ‘Highway Nights’ has been awarded the grand jury prize at the Best of India Short Film Festival 2021. How does it feel?
It is still sinking in. It is very good for the team and the director. I feel amazing about it.
How was it being directed by another director?
Just like any other actor, I enjoyed working, listening to the director, and going with his vision. It was a very interesting experience. Although Shubham Singh is a first-time director, he is really sorted with his thoughts and vision.
What attracted you to this film?
The simple and subtle message of the story is what really attracted me to this film. I didn’t have much to do in the film actually. I hardly had any dialogues; it was all about the girl. I was just a bouncing board for her in the movie. Without any preaching or anything, the story just organically melds into that message. That is the beauty of the story.
You have never worked night shifts in your films. This was the first time you shot at night…
I actually never have night shoots in my films. However, if the subject demands and there is a requirement for that, I do oblige, and that is exactly what happened in this film also. This film revolves around one night so we had to shoot in the night only.
Do you think in India we lack an audience for short films?
I think it is already popular amongst the people who watch online content, and it is slowly catching up with others too.
OTT has given a new lease of life to many actors and filmmakers. What is your take on the same?
OTT is the biggest reality of our life. Just like TV happened, OTT has happened and it is bringing entertainment right into your palms. It is amazing!
Is there any actor you would love to work with someday?
I want to work with all the actors; I am very greedy that way!
