Pooja Bedi recalls the time when she walked out of her marriage without a single penny | Hindi Movie News – Times of India
Recalling that episode of her life, Pooja said she was sure that she didn’t want to be in that marriage but there were many problems. Her husband felt that she was the perfect wife and he was not ready to part ways with her. He believed that if he gave her money she would definitely leave. About 20 years ago, the court systems were different, laws were different, women’s rights movement wasn’t so active, so Pooja decided to walk away from her marriage without taking any money, thinking that court proceedings would affect her two kids Alaya and Omar. It was also important for her to maintain good relations with her now ex-husband for her kids’ sake.
Pooja also mentioned that it wasn’t like she left her career for Farhan, in fact she helped him in his career, they started Furniturewala together and she was actively involved in production, delivery, marketing, client strategy etc but legally she wasn’t part of the business. She also added that her husband also tried to scare her that she only knew about the film industry. He told Pooja about how the times had changed and new heroines had entered the business and no one would cast a mother of two in films.
But Pooja had faith in her capability. She was 18 when she started with nothing and became successful and she knew this time as well, she would be able to do the same. Thankfully she had a small inheritance that she got when her mother passed away. Pooja started with that and she also began writing columns in magazines for which she was paid 16000 a month. That column led her to an offer to host a talk show and in a domino effect, her transformation began. She then got a modeling contract and became a brand ambassador. Within 18 months, she was driving the same Mercedes that her ex-husband used to drive. She also revealed that some time later, she got a call from her ex-husband asking for a loan to expand his business.
