Police complaint against Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui over non payment of Rs 31 lakh dues – Times of India

Nawazuddin Siddiqui’s wife Aaliya Siddiqui is embroiled in a case of financial fraud even before she makes her debut as a producer. Manju Garhwal, creative and co-producer of Aaliya’s maiden production venture ‘Holy Cow’, has alleged that Aaliya is refusing to pay up Rs 31 lakh which Manju had invested in the film.

After repeated failed attempts to communicate, Manju Garhwal filed a police complaint against Aaliya Siddiqui on June 20 at the Amboli Police station, alleging mental agony and harassment, apart from lakhs of pending dues and credit for the movie. Speaking to ETimes, Manju said, “Aaliya and I have been friends since 2005 and she wanted to be a producer for a really long time. When things finally shaped up, she told me to take charge of the creative side while she decided to manage the finances. I roped in actors and cast for the project, but the money paid to them through cheques soon started bouncing.” She went on to reveal that her father also invested money in the project upon Aaliya’s insistence. “My father was selling off his home in Ujjain and Aaliya was aware of the deal. Since she needed finances, she convinced my father to give her the money from the property sale and she would return the same in a month’s time. However, that didn’t happen.” Manju stated that Aaliya and she had a fallout, post which Nawaz’s wife refused to credit her as the creative and co-producer for ‘Holy Cow’.

Manju told ETimes that she was in possession of a hard disk which contained ‘Holy Cow’ data and after much insistence, Aaliya paid up Rs 22 lakh and took over the hard disk. “However after that, I have been running from pillar to post to recover my pending money, which amounts to Rs 31 lakh. I have even filed a complaint with the FWICE (Federation of Western India Cine Employees) and I have recently got to know that she has initiated talks in the payment matter with my team. But I don’t know when it will materialise.”

Manju stated that Aaliya has provided a medical report seeking time to respond to the police complaint but the co-producer feels that details of the same are questionable.

With ‘Holy Cow’ set for release in August, Manju Garhwal is keen to get her money soon and also the credit for the film as a creative and co-producer. Directed by Sai Kabir, this entertainer stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Sanjay Mishra and Tigmanshu Dhulia in lead roles.

When ETimes reached out to Aaliya Siddiqui to know her side of the story, she refrained from commenting.
