PM Modi to launch Rs 21,000-crore projects in Gujarat
He will inaugurate and e-launch various projects worth more than ₹21,000 crore in Vadodara and dedicate 141,000 houses to beneficiaries from urban and rural areas under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, they said.
While 100,000 houses will be handed over in rural areas of 33 districts in Gujarat, 38,071 out of 41,000 houses constructed in urban areas under the scheme will be given to the beneficiaries. Besides, foundation stones will be laid for 2,999 houses.
So far, out of the 372,865 houses that have been constructed in rural areas, 293,000 houses have been built in the 14 tribal districts of the state. Moreover, another 100,000 houses, whose sanction had been delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the onset of monsoon season, have been approved within a month. Due to close monitoring of the construction work, more than 90,000 houses have been built in the past few months. In the meantime, about 624,000 houses have been constructed in urban areas.
The PM is also scheduled to dedicate five railway projects worth more than ₹10,700 crore to the people and initiate 13 other projects worth ₹5,620 crore.
He is also expected to visit the Pavagadh temple, apart from meeting his mother, Heeraba, who will be turning 100 on June 18.
On June 10, the PM visited the tribal areas of Navsari, where he inaugurated a slew of development projects. Observers said that while the BJP is going out of its way to break the winning record of Congress stalwart Madhavsinh Solanki, who had steered his party to a record 149 seats in the state assembly in 1985, the BJP is focusing sharply on the tribal areas of the state as well as central
Gujarat, where the Congress has managed to retain some of its footprint.
