pixel: Google Pixel 6a may miss out on this Pixel 6 and 6 Pro camera feature – Times of India

The upcoming Google Pixel 6a smartphone might not support a camera feature present in its flagship counterparts — Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro. As per a report by XDA Developers, the Pixel 6a handset won’t support the Motion Mode that is included in the Google Camera app of the latest premium Pixel phones.
This feature was first introduced in the Pixel 6 series smartphones. This mode can create effects in a video to highlight the movement around a subject. The feature captures multiple photos and adds a motion blur to the background by combining the images with machine learning.
However, the reason for Google excluding Motion Mode from the Pixel 6a is still not clear. The report suggests that since the chip powering the upcoming device is the same as the flagship ones, it might be related to the older camera hardware.
Earlier, there were reports the Pixel 6a, which is internally codenamed as Bluejay, is expected to have a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 primary sensor. This camera sensor is present in a wide range of Google phones, starting from the Pixel 3 to the Pixel 5a.
The latest report suggests that some evidence has been found in the Pixel Tips app that suggests the tech giant will not allow Motion Mode on the Pixel 6a handset.
According to the report, details about Motion Mode have been coded to appear with “PIXEL_2021_EXPERIENCE” devices in the Pixel Tips app. It includes the Pixel 6 series and upcoming Pixel 6a for having the same Google Tensor GS101 chipset. However, the code is designed to exclude devices with the codename “bluejay,” which matches the codename of the Pixel 6a.
Google’s upcoming budget Pixel phone for 2022 is expected to arrive within the next few months.
